2006 MICHIGAN GOLF CALENDAR
As chronicled in last week's MGN, Rees Jones is continuing the mischief his father started at Oakland Hills CC prior to the 1951 U.S. Open. He is adding another 200 yards, more bunkers and new tees for the up coming British Open qualifier and PGA Championship.
With little demand for new courses, Michigan architects have found themselves looking for some golf course nip and tuck work.JohnZaliagiris, ofVisionary Golf Design, has done the majority of his renovation work with Don Childs, but is picking up some design work of his own at Genesee Hills in Grand Blanc.Paul Albanese and Chris Lutzke are finishing up their work at Sweetgrasses, the new course at Chip In Casino and Resort in the U.P. They also have picked up some remodeling work in Indiana. You can see their work on video at the renovation of the Christiana CC http://michigangolfer.tv/2005shows/christiana/ . This is the course they brought in a team of Belgium horses to create bunkers with.
Bruce Matthews III http://www.matthewsgolf.org/has completed his work at Beeches GC in Western Michigan.Ray Hearn http://rhgd.com is back into the golf design business after a brief stint as GM of Macatawa Legends GC. He is now busy with the Chateau Lavagna course in Pezenas, France and the Porto Marina course in Egypt. His remodel projects include Flossmoor CC in Illinois and West Shore GC in Douglas. Mike Husby http://mikehusbygolf.com does not have anything on his drawing table at the moment, and therefore, continues his successful stewardship of the Candlestone Resort in Belding.
Jerry Matthews, ofNatural Course Design http://naturalcoursedesign.com recently remodeled Mount Pleasant CC and Monroe Golf and CC. Tom Doak is another Michigan architect that has an international vitae. His courses in Tazmania and New Zealand are bold, exciting and drawing high praise. Ron Otto is busy with his next course in Garland.Mike DeVries, who opened up a The Mines and Greywalls has been, outside of Tom Doak, the busiest architect in Michigan. I have not heard much of late from the very prolific Jeff Gorney and Warner Bowen, but they generally have something going on. Some architects have left the state for greener pastures or fairways and they include, Bill Newcomb, Harry Bowers and John Sanford Jr.
It is obvious, the go-go golf world of the 80's and 90's is gone.
The coverage of the Kohler golf couses in Wisconsin's Sheboygan County was very special and made me yearn to return to this great destination next year. Fans of Tom Doak will see his work at Beechtree in Baltimore, Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania and Cape Kidnappers GC in New Zealand and the great Pacific Dunes. Holland area's Ray Hearn also gets mention for his Sea Oaks GC in New Jersey.
The book is fifty bucks and will be out in November. It is published by Abrams and the ISBN: 0-8109-5745-0
Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources.
In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.3,Football 5.0 , Hunting and Fishing 7.5 , and Racing 3.6.
I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0 , but the uninstall doesn't work on Wife 1.0 . Please help!
Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!!! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0 . It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed.
You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings - Alimony/Child Support . I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate software augmentation.
The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE! because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway.
Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance.
Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 and Do Bills 4.2 .
However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5 . Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0 !
WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3 . This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system!
Best of luck,
Thanks and a Tip of the Tam to Jim Neff for this lovely.
